This is a story I entered in a Fractured Fairytale competition for the Masters Review. Thought I'd put a modern lens on a classic fairy tale. A little bit of humour to help it along. It is funny when you think about the stereotypes of these classic fairytales and how they'd travel in today's world.

Machina ex Deus

Don't worry I'll be testing your attention span shortly. This is 500 words. I've entered it in a micro fiction competition by The Masters Review. It was inspired by our recent trip to Vietnam.

Maybe it's a bit out there. For those of you who are out of touch with your Latin, deus ex machina, that well known "chop shop" bike brand, means machine comes from God. Quite bizarrely that is a reference to Greek plays where Gods were brought out on a timber "machine".

This is another short one (500 words) I entered in the Australian Writers Centre monthy Furious Fiction contest. You have 48 hours, there needed to be a chair, the words album, click, bright and the main character needed to make a decision. I reused the name Reggie (they've never heard of him!).

The photo (probably a breach of copyright) is Rick Parfitt from Status Quo an underrated musician. Saw him once in Westpac Plaza (weird I know) in his words "checking out chicks". Why not!
