The first book (and my first book) in the Jack O'Connor series.

Jack is a knockabout detective stationed in the remote Kimberley region of Australia, with a fixation on drink coasters, eclectic musical tastes and a troubled past. He investigates the death of a local cattle station owner whose body is found at the picturesque, but inaccessible, Mitchell Falls. The discovery is in itself confounding and leads Jack and a young indigenous police officer, Jedda, across the vastness of the Kimberley in pursuit of the killer. 
 
Not all can be taken at face value and Jack reaches a number of seemingly dead ends before finally solving the mystery.
 
This is a story in the tradition of Mystery Road, Chris Hammer ,  Jane Harper  with a touch of the humour of Adrian McKinty.
